Enterprise API Management
Your Business Everywhere...
The API Economy is here. Enterprises are making business applications available through APIs to drive business growth and expose new opportunities. The business landscape is being reshaped as dramatically as it was during the rush to create an Internet presence with a web site in the late 90s. APIs are becoming the primary way that businesses interact with their customers, reach new markets, and provide the global app development community with the tools to deliver innovative new business capabilities to customers.
The SOA Software Atmosphere product family was created to help drive the API Economy by meeting the needs of collaborating around and managing APIs in a complex environment. It provides a secure, robust platform that companies can use to share their APIs with the developer community of their choice. SOA Software Atmosphere manages, monitors, and secures companies APIs ensuring that they deliver the level of service customers and partners require; the security of corporate and customer information and assets; and the integrity of the corporate brand.
Fast Track Your API Deployment
SOA Software Atmosphere is for API management and collaboration, a connecting point where your APIs can be published, promoted, and managed in a secure, scalable environment. You can manage your own developer community, or just plug into communities that already exist. Your APIs can be discovered and harnessed by creative people who blend it with complementary APIs from your partners. These developers can then work together, share ideas, and support each other in new and productive ways.
Plan
Great APIs result from diligent planning on multiple levels. Atmosphere gives you to tools to think through your whole API strategy, build and deployment processes, planning before going into production:
- A Rich Set of Tools - We provide you with a robust set of tools for API definition, content, as well as policy and lifecycle management. This way, you can rest assured that your APIs are correctly structured and well documented, and integrate well with internal design and development processes.
- Decide how you are going to do APIs start from scratch, leverage existings apps or both. In addition to exposing new capabilities, you can leverage Atmosphere to harness existing investments in web services and enterprise SOA, with new formats and policies specific to an outside developer group.
- Understand how your will share and promote your APIs through numerous community options.
- Think through usage quotas, security and policy issues at the pre-build stage.
- Think about your APIs from the App Point of View - Atmosphere provides sophisticated yet simple security capabilities that enable API developers to gauge how they want to manage and monitor their APIs.
Build
Atmosphere does the heavy lifting for your APIs, converting existing SOAP or Plain-old XML (POX) over JMS or MQ interfaces into RESTful APIs and/or JSON content. This is just one of many technological advantages you gain by using Atmosphere to build and run your APIs. Others include:
- Manage API-to-App connections The integration between APIs and individual apps can often become complex and difficult to maintain. Atmosphere provides tools that automate and control the connections between apps and APIs so you dont have to expend excessive effort doing it yourself.
- Define and manage your APIs - Use a wide range of messaging types and formats including REST/XML, REST/JSON and SOAP. You can create an API with multiple interfaces using different standards with no extra development effort.
- Document your APIs Atmosphere provides a robust toolset for defining and documenting your APIs so developers can use them without creating a burden on your support resources.
- Support for Intermediation - We simplify the creation of RESTful APIs with both XML and JSON content from various internal service types. We also provide powerful paging and caching mechanisms to improve app performance.
- Provision and Test Atmosphere lets you expose API sandbox (test) and production endpoints, with a multi-step approval process for granting Apps access to each of the endpoints.
Run
Atmosphere lets you monitor and manage your APIs, keeping an eye on consumer contracts and traffic from individual apps. Other runtime features include:
- Many Security, Policy and Deployment Options - You have the choice of many sophisticated security capabilities to help protect the APIs from abuse and ensure the privacy of customer data.
- Policy-Driven - Atmosphere defines all security and quality-of-service through centrally managed policies, ensuring consistency between multiple API implementations and versions.
- Protect Internal Applications With Atmosphere, you can protect internal applications from overload at the API as well as provide customers with service-level guarantee through Atmospheres comprehensive QoS management for SLAs and quotas.

The SOA Software Atmosphere product family is built on three main components:
- Atmosphere Manager provides the services and APIs that support Atmosphere Broker and the Atmosphere Community UI.
- Atmosphere Broker an API proxy server providing security, monitoring, mediation and other runtime capabilities.
- Atmosphere Community a sophisticated JavaScript client that runs in a web browser to API Management capabilities to a social developer community.
Atmosphere can be deployed on-premise, in the cloud, or in a combination. We built it this way knowing that you may have business requirements or regulations that mandate the security and privacy of customer data.

Share
Atmosphere provides a connecting point where your APIs can be published, promoted, and managed in a secure, scalable environment.
Manage your own developer community Or, just plug into communities that already exist. Your APIs can be discovered and harnessed by creative people who blend it with complementary APIs from your partners. These developers can then work together, share ideas, and support each other in new and productive ways.- Tell People about Your APIs After youve created your APIs, Atmosphere lets you tell the world about it. Or, just tell your selected group of key stakeholders.
- Public or Private APIs: Your Choice Atmosphere is designed with enterprise business technology in mind. With Atmosphere, you can publish your APIs privately and invite selected developers into a closed community just for your business. Alternatively, you can use Atmosphere to publish your APIs broadly but still control access.
